This rare pictorial map of Key West depicts the small island around the time of WWII, celebrates its long history while heralding a bright future. The map was produced by the Ohio artist and illustrator, Arthur B. Suchy as one of 100, limited edition, hand colored prints.

Eighty places of interest are noted throughout the map. One such place of interest is the Pan American Airport, which operated the first international flight from the United States with Havana, Cuba as the destination. Other noteworthy details within the map include the latitude and longitude of the island, the various groups of people that occupied Key West (lower right), the “90 miles to Cuba,” which became a well-known distance under John F. Kennedy, and the “Past, Present, and Future” text inserts that describe the island’s importance throughout time.
