This is a fine print reproduction of Hondius's iconic map of Asia, produced during the golden age of Dutch map making. 
The map shows the Asian continent divided into regions from a finely detailed Arabian Peninsula and Asia Minor in the West to more speculative and uncertain geographic depiction of Japan, the Philippines, and New Guinea in the East. The geography of the Far East would remain an enigma to Europeans until the early 18th century.
Flanking the map are ten carte à figures of various groups of people, indigenous to the continent, some of which include Arabs, Persians, Javanese, Chinese, people of Moscoviae (Russians), and Tartari (Mongolians). Above the map, a frieze presents bird's eye views of six important cities in the Middles East and Mediterranean, including Rhodes, Damascus and Jerusalem to name a few.
