Original Size: 18.5 x 22 inches (47 x 56 cm)
This is a fine print reproduction of de Wit's striking map of Europe produced during the golden age of Dutch map making.
The map shows in detail the geo-political landscape of early 17th century Europe and extend far enough to include the northern coast of Africa, the Holy Land, Asia Minor, Russian Europe and Iceland.
It is richly ornamented with a variety of ships sailing the seas, a compass rose, a sea monster, Europa shown riding Zeus in the form of a bull, and several putti holding the title banner aloft.
