This is a fine print reproduction of a highly detailed 1922 real estate map of Highland Park, Illinois and its vicinity in Lake County, compiled by the engineering firm Windes & Marsh of Winnetka. Issued at a moment of rapid suburban growth, the map captures the community as it expanded from a quiet lakeside town into an increasingly developed residential enclave north of Chicago.
The map is densely engraved with subdivided lots, street layouts, and property boundaries, particularly concentrated along the route of the Chicago, Milwaukee & North Shore Railroad, which served as a central artery for development. Larger parcels to the west retain the names of individual landowners, while numerous annotations record real estate transactions, survey updates, and evolving infrastructure.
